After losing his red football when some boys kicked it over the wall, the boy embarks on a journey which takes him across the desert, the sea - through the jungle and over mountains. The boy ends up where he began, but now he has real friends that he met on his journey. Over the Wall is a rhyming story. The message is that it takes time and effort to find true friends.

Joe wants to be a Super Hero - so he needs a super costume and some super powers. Alas, he knows he’s not really a super hero, but he likes to imagine how he can help people, especially his family, even if he doesn’t really have any super powers.

During a thunderstorm a boy sees a bear on his roof. The bear is not happy, and the boy is trying to persuade him to come down. Something was broken and bad words were spoken. The bear comes down from the roof and gives the boy a hug as the sun rises. The bear represents the boys own anger at having been told off for breaking a vase - and by persuading the bear to come down, he resolves his bad feelings.

Ben has really big eyes, and he has to start wearing glasses. He’s not happy because all his friends have normal sized eyes. But after he has to wear sunglasses in the summer time he feels better about wearing his normal glasses. He realises that it doesn’t matter too much how you look, it’s how you feel inside that’s important.

A series of humorous observations makes a child mistakenly think their Nana is from Neptune. This includes thinking that she has x-ray sight, space machines and two hearts. The conclusion is that it doesn’t really matter anyway - what matters is that Nana loves the child and the child loves their Nana.

George is a tortoise who walks very slowly. A naughty mouse appears and they walk through the woods together looking for something to eat. But the mouse is impatient and greedy. Tortoise George eventually catches up with the mouse, but events take a turn for the worse for the mouse.
